Manhours — When installing these tiles, figure 4.55 manhours per square and plan on at least a three-man crew. This manhour estimate doesn’t include loading materials up onto the roof. For accessory items, consider the following:

1. 30 pound felt: 0.050 manhours per square foot

2. Eave closure or birdstops: 0.30 manhours per linear foot

3. Metal flashing: 0.306 manhours per square

4. Hip, ridge, and rake caps: 0.047 manhours per linear foot

Remember, roofing and siding products need to complement each other in design, texture, and color. Some roofing companies also manufacture and supply siding materials and have gone to great lengths to ensure that their products complement each other. Whatever products you and your customer choose, keep in mind they need to make a statement. So take your contractor's cap off and replace it with your designer cap. Continue on to the next chapter, on siding, and learn how to create that masterpiece for your customer!
