Beautiful exterior doors with all the benefits of wood (and none of the disadvantages) came to the market more than 30 years ago. They're made of energy-efficient materials that their manufacturers claim actually outperform wood – materials that won't warp or split even under the most severe conditions. This step revolutionized the door industry. Today, the traditional concept of high-performance building materials has been refined to include products made of advanced composite compounds. Therma-Tru Corporation has developed extruded, compression-molded, and injection-molded materials and technologies. Here are some of their accomplishments:

  • The first residential door with a polyurethane foam core that insulates five times better than wood

  • The first insulated steel door to use wood stiles and rails, creating a full thermal break to prevent the transmission of heat and cold through the steel surface

  • The only manufacturer to use exposed magnetic weatherstripping for the most positive magnetic seal available<

  • A self-sealing sill and door bottom system that requires no mechanical adjustments

  • The first adjustable security strike plate, increasing the system's ability to withstand impact equal to 450 pounds

Two of their door designs are unique because of the compounds they use. They include the Fiber-Classic (fiberglass-reinforced) and Classic-Craft (thermoset composite) doors, both of which carry a limited lifetime warranty.
